Hello my lovelies~ so today I'm going to be a bit serious (if you're not American or not old enough to vote this probably doesn't apply to you, sorry ^^'). Every election year people say that it's "the most important election EVAR!!!1!!!!11!!ONE!" But this year, I think they're right. This year's election decides not only the next four years but possibly the fate of America. If you haven't noticed, America's kind of been going down the tubes lately...now, I don't much care what political party you claim (if any), I just want to encourage all of you to make an INFORMED choice. Don't believe the media (which has been the worst with propaganda this year) and don't listen to the rumors; make your own choices, do your own research, find multiple sources, look up information the government won't tell you (with a little digging you can find almost anything) and fact check EVERYTHING. (And please, please don't vote an independent party--I, personally, would rather do so but unfortunately you may as well not vote at all as independent parties never win...)
...And now, to break the tension:

Art Feature 10/22/12
I'm sure most of you have figured out by now that I am kind of totally an anime nerd. I just (like seriously 2 seconds ago) discovered this group cosplay picture and I have to say it's accuracy is insane.
Cosplay-Ouran Koukou Host Club by ~raya on deviantART
I'm a huge Ouran High School Host Club fan and these are probably the best cosplays I've seen of them ever and the fact that they're all one group just makes it that much more awesome.
Kudos to all the cosplayers and the person who put the group photo together (because the layout is epic too).

New Look and Art Feature 10/5/12

On to the art feature!!
girl in front of a painting. by *megatruh on deviantART
I saw this image in Facebook today and immediately LOVED it~ it's a gorgeous piece that really makes you think. "What is this girl thinking?" "What happened to her leg?" "What does the painting represent?" "Is this a photograph or not?!" To answer the last question: it is a digital painting—yeah, I was surprised too. XD

Your Art is Not Your Identity by ~StephenMcCranie on deviantART
This is super long so I'm going to keep my own comments short. I can relate to this and I'm sure a lot of other people can as well, especially if you substitute art for whatever you're into—the meaning stands the same. (Click on it to see a bigger version.)

The Transformation by *elotta on deviantART
I don't normally feature images with partial nudity but The Little Mermaid was a part of my childhood and this is a beautiful (if not a little disturbing) rendition of Ariel's transformation. While I'm glad this wasn't how they did it in the movie (as it would have scared the pee out of me as a child) I simply love this portrayal now. Every part of this image is incredibly detailed, I don't think there's a single aspect I don't like. ^^

Maleficent by *RobShields on deviantART
Surprisingly, I found this image while scrolling through Facebook rather than deviantART--which is rather odd considering it received a "Daily Deviation" award and I tend to log on to deviantART more than Facebook; but I digress.
This is an interesting take on one of Disney's greatest villains, I don't believe I've ever seen something quite like it. She looks quite stunning and much younger than how she is usually depicted--yet she is somehow still as threatening as always.

"Vic-mas" and Art Feature 8/28/12
I am proud to say that I am a Risembool Ranger and yesterday was "Vic-mas". For those who don't know what that means I am basically a hardcore fan of this guy right here:

Vic's website: http://www.vicsworld.net/acting.htm
I wanted to share the amazing drawing from his website but unfortunately the original artist doesn't want it shared anywhere...I can understand since it was a monetary commission though.
Merrylate Vic-mas everyone!
Vic Mignogna is my personal role model as a wonderful Christian witness and an amazing singer and actor. Anyways, "Vic-mas" means that yesterday (August 27th) was that awesome dude up there's birthday...unfortunately I forgot to post anything. ^^' So to make up for that, today I'm going to feature a drawing of him along with his website.

Ghoul Alice in Wonderland by *MyobiMarishka on deviantART
I am a huge Alice in Wonderland fan and I'm also quite fond of the Monster High™ dolls so when I found this I was helpless to do anything but LOVE it! I often find repaints of dolls on deviantART but it's rare to find any quite as well done as this and the dress is simply to DIE for. My only question when I found it was: "why the heck haven't I added *MyobiMarishka to my +watch list yet?!?!"
Update: 8/23/12
I had to add this lovely image to this feature since it is from the same person

And, of course, I had to add in the White Rabbit as well~

Ole ole by ~rikkutsukino on deviantART
I stumbled upon this piece a couple of days ago and finally decided I just HAD to share it. This is a cosplay of one of the anime-only characters from Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler), Alois Trancy. The cosplayer did a wonderful job capturing his personality and the outfit and wig are flawless! I also quite like the background and the way the picture was taken reminds me of a candid shot (which I also enjoy).
She also has a blogger with more of her wonderful cosplay: http://rikkutsukino.blogspot.com/

Anime
So, recently I've been getting into a lot of old animes that most people are into by now but since I only started in my junior year of high school unlike most who start getting into it in elementary/junior high school I think I'm allowed to be a little slower than most. ;) Anyway, the most recent ones I've gotten into are D.Gray-Man and Nabari no Ou but my favorite that I've gotten into in the past couple of months is Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler. All of the listed animes are rather dark (ok...really dark) but they're all very well done in terms of art style and storyline.
Both D.Gray-Man and Kuroshitsuji are about demons though they each follow very different plotlines (in one the main character is an exorcist, in the other the main character makes a contract with a demon). Kuroshitsuji starts out with basic slapstick comedy then delves into the action and I was nearly immediately drawn into it while D.Gray-Man took me most of the episode to get into although the action started much sooner. The time periods and settings are about the same both being set in early-to-mid 19th century England.
Nabari no Ou is very different from D.Gray-Man and Kuroshitsuji, it is about modern-day ninjas. It is less dark than the other two and starts out with a flashback though the action doesn't really start until the very end. I'll admit that it took me most of the first episode to really get into it, the main reason I stuck with it was because the voice actress who voices the main character also voices the main character for Kuroshitsuji (and does brilliantly) and the main character is absolutely adorable. This anime is set in modern-day Japan.
Out of these animes I've only managed to finish one so far but I'm working on it. :) Either way I definitely recommend them (as well as several others) to everyone. And if you say you don't like anime, you've probably just not found one that you like yet. Anime is a genre like any other, there are many different art styles, story lines, relate-able characters, etcetera and there's something for just about everyone. Pick a story-type and search through animes, you'll be surprised at what you find.

Art Feature - 4/17/12
As an artist I enjoy not only creating but viewing great art. Occasionally I'll stumble upon a picture that just completely blows me away and I'm just like "gosh I HAVE to share this!" And so, today, I will feature this:
Other Mother by ~ToxicTenshi on deviantART
Other Mother by ~ToxicTenshi on deviantART
Those of you who have seen the movie Coraline will probably recognize this character--the delightfully creepy "other mother". When I first saw this I was just shocked--I could hardly believe that it's an actual person in a costume. The lighting is positively wonderful and the makeup is incredible. Kudos to the photographer, cosplayer, and the makeup artist*.
*Note: I am unsure if the cosplayer/photographer and makeup artist are the same person or not, a lot of times I see one person doing more than one job on these sorts of pictures.
